: A carport should be fine. If you plan to store it for a while, I'd slap a
: couple of coats of latex paint on the bare ends of the log. You probably
: have a partial can kicking around somewhere, don't you? It will help to
: slow down the evaporation of water from inside the log, and will reduce
: any splitting or checking in the log as the wood dries.

And don't forget to sticker the pile. That is, put narrow sticks between every layer of boards, to allow air to circulate freely.
