Sounds like you are just about done. The ripples you refer to is either a run in the epoxy (epoxy will flow like a fat stream and gradually harden) or an area where you didn't squeege well. The squeeging process is to make sure your glass is in good contact with the wood. If not, it floats on epoxy and can create high spots. there's almost no cure to these high sposts other than sanding into them. (unless you want to go into major surgery which I wouldn't)

All you really want at this point is a flat, fair surface. I start with 60 to 100 grit dry and maybe a 150/200 final wet on the epoxy. The varn. will give you the gloss as mentioned. With the varn, you would use finer paper 220 up to 300. I like wet for the dust. However I start with dry to reveal any problem areas.

I just filled the deck on a hybred and did the 1 needed fill coat with a brush. One coat filled the 5 oz. cloth. Some spots are totally smooth and a few have just a hint of weave. You have to remember, epoxy doesn't level like water. There is build-up on the glass fibers. In other words it's not glass showing but epoxy on the glass fibers. I'll sand from here. Unless I get into a troublesome area, that will be it for epoxy.
