Hey Jamie,

I know this doesn't answer your question but . . trailers are nice for several of reasons.

Pros:

1st: They don't cost much more than some of the more popular rack systems.

2nd: You can pull it with anything (almost) that has a "hitchball". They are so light that you don't have to have a frame mounted hitch. Just a cheap bumper mount will do.

3rd: You don't have to buy a new one just because you buy another auto. or try to retro-fit it to a new auto.

4th: They are easy to load. No reaching much over shoulder height. and you don't have to worry about scuffing the paint on your car.

5th: Its easy to keep an eye on your yaks while your truckin'down the highway.

Cons:

1st: Not everyone can back a trailer.

2nd: Upkeep on the trailer . . paint, lights, tires, and wiring.

3rd: Buying a trailer tag every year.

I guess when you weigh it all out, its still just a matter of personal preference.

But, I'll have to admit, I like my trailer! I had it built by a local trailer manufacturer at a very reasonable price. And,I can haul up to ten yaks easily. But I'm only setting it up for four - which is the number of kayaks I will have when I get the Guillemot L completed. I want to add a couple of narrow 8' long storage boxes to the trailer for one-piece paddles and yakin accessories.

Anyway, I hope you find what you need.

Happy Paddling.

Charles.
