Unless you have a lot of room and infeed/outfeed support, I find long strips are unwieldy to run through a router table. I cut and milled my strips before scarfing them. I then create 20-25 full length strips for the hull and for some decorative strips.
One thing that I found useful was my 8’ straight edge. You can get them at most hardware stores and are normally used to guide a circular saw. The back side of mine has a ¾” grove that is perfect for clamping scarfs.
To get good alignment, I put the bead side against the straight edge, put a length of ¼” dowel in the cove and clamp the dowel on either side of the scarf. The dowel helps the 6:1 scarf alignment. I also clamp top and bottom. Remember to put some packing tape on the straightedge and dowel so everything comes apart This seems to work for me and leaves invisible joints as long as you match the grain.
Regards,
Jack
