Ian,
Bristol Finish sounds like it has potential. Thanks for bringing it up. The ability to add coats 1 to 2 hours apart is a real nice advantage over regular varnish. I find their web site a bit skimpy on details however. Things like how toxic is this stuff, what health precautions are necessary, and what conditions, techniques and brush type will give the best finish. Hopefully someone on this board has used it and can give us an rundown on the pluses and minuses.

: After one year, I want to do a little refinish to my Endeavour, particularly
: the hull, which has many scratches. The original finish is several coats
: of Epiphane varnish. I feel that this finish may not be the most
: abrasive-resistant, and it has the disadvantage that it should not be
: applied in the cool/cold temperatures of my unheated garage. I am
: considering recoating with clear urethane (after a light 220 sanding) Any
: comments or cautions? Does anyone have any experience with Bristol Finish?
: This is a very expensive 3-part acrylic urethane, traditional amber, said
: to be very tough, UV resistant, and can be applied at freezing
: temperatures. It is apparently fully compatible over sound varnish.
