Tim,

There is some good information about Interthane Plus on the One Ocean web site (see link below). I have no experience with it, but it looks like a promising product. As far as wear protection goes, I can't imagine any liquid out of a can coming anywhere close to the toughness of glass cloth stabilized with resin. If it did we would be building boats with Interthane and glass instead of resin and glass. So no, Interthane should not be used as a primary wear layer.

: Hi guys.

: Wondering the usability and usefulness on the two part polyurethane
: (Interthane Plus) clear stuff that's UV protected. Is that a product that
: must be reacoated every year - does it feather in to the old coat without
: a lot of fuss?

: OR

: Do you guys recommend just using the standard UV varnish every couple years
: and live with the minor scratches. It's a kayak that's going to be used
: for cryin out loud so I'm not too worried about minor scratches.

: I'm also wondering if the two part polyurethane is tough enough to stand up
: to grounding/beaching the kayak - more so that the varnish. I've noticed a
: few of the builders here add a layer of 'glass to the wear spots but I'm
: wondering if the two part polyurethane would be enough to not have to do
: that.

: Thanks all!
: Tim
