What a website! What a bunch of great knowledgeable people! One can find out everything about building kayaks, if one will only look … and ask. With people like Marcel Rodriguez, my new hero, and Nick Schade … there is even a discussion on how to pronounce his name!… how can a newbie miss?
I asked questions about glue and boy, did I learn. Now the new question has to do with bead and cove vs. planed edges. B&G looks like a great invention … but only for a portion of the stripping. The remainder of the strips are all shaved and sanded to fit. So why not ignore the purchase of suitable router bits and machinery and simply plane all the strips to fit?
Also, the seat back and its attachments as seen in a photo offered by Kent LeBoutillier in a response to a question looks good. Mr. LeBoutillier: based on the photo this is the seatback I want. So, if you will be so kind ... what is the method for reproducing the great piece of work that is illustrated?
