Hi Ken,

I received an email today from a builder of an FAP-16 folder. He mentioned
in passing that he had seen my PIC yesterday regarding using a squeegee
to work frozen epoxy and wondered if I was building a woodstrip in addition
to my latest folder.

That got me to thinking that perhaps everyone who saw the pic took it as a
serious response. In fact, I was actually trying to add some levity to the
otherwise difficult situation you are face with.

If you look closely, you will see that the squeegee is actually an ice scraper
(notice the leather hand cover), and that the drip pan is an ice cube tray.
Perhaps I was a bit too subtle !

Anyway, glad the resin is hardening up. On a woodstrip, fiberglassing
is an all or nothing proposition, and somthing I never relished doing.
I undermixed epoxy/hardener with disasterous results on one stripper.
Believe me, you only do it once.

On second though, that reminds me of the time I had the wrong Polyester
Resin/MEKP/or surface wax mixture and the surface of the resin remained
tacky forever. I had to wax the canoe a couple times per season to give
it a less tacky feel.

Correction, it's a mistake you will make only twice.

Cheers,

Tom
