I understand the curing question, but especially because I jusr read a VERY hot post Re: kerosene heaters here it is:

I have used kerosene heaters before in my work (not near my boat) and I have never found them dangerous, but the above experience shows they have that potential that's for sure. So use them knowing how quickly things went bad for at least 1 builder it is wise to treat them with repect in the fire starting area. I have also heard about the oily 'soot' left in the air (has to settle somewhere) from kerosene. I think with coating and bonding going on it could be done but would need good lights and a careful watch to remove any 'soot' before re-coatings. And not even sure this method will aviod all problems with kerosene 'soot'. Maybe guys who have actually used them a lot with epoxy can say if they had a problem that cleaning did not take care of.
On the subject of re routing your furnace duct it isn't really that silly depending: Is the furnace already in the basement? Didn't see it but here it is common. Anyway even if it isn't take another look at it, it is doable. It can be as temporary and flexable as the right length of flex 4" ducting (like dryer venting, but longer) that you can string up and take down whenever you wanted. Or if you look at your house in cross-section you may come up with a clever way to run it through a ceiling and or wall and run the same flex and insulated 4" duct then just build a soffit cover + then you got permanent heat. Sure would be nice to have the ability to saftly heat that great basement from now on, wouldn't it (not too mention no risk at all of fire). Man a little drywall in there and you got a great big room, think about skipping the whole kerosene bit and going for a real home improvement.Even thogu you may not want another project just now this may be a good one.
Man you Alaska guys got balls. I read the Ancorage news and I like how it is a different community up there, but it is so cold. How do you make it ok just for living (really interest).

: I just started my second stitch and glue, a pygmy tandem. Got the basement
: set up as a shop for now.
: I have used kerosene heaters quite a bit, but I remember some posts about
: them affecting the epoxy cure. Its cold up here in Fairbanks, so I need a
: supplamental heat source (or to re-duct my furnace) down there to keep it
: toasty warm. I did a search of the archives but didn't really find anyone
: saying it was terrible. I guess I could wait till tomorrow and see for
: myself, but thought I would seek wisdom from those with experience.
: Thanks in advance.
