: Hi. I would appreciate your opinions as to what "how to" book is
: best for a SoF novice builder. I need a stable boat so I'm hoping to build
: something halfways between a Greenland and a non folding Klepper.
: Any advice greatly appreciated.
I've got Morris', Starr's, Cunningham's and both of Petersen's books. They're all useful and educational, providing different perspectives and methods. The first three are the best beginner's guides to building Greenland style boats, as they detail the procedures thoroughly. Petersens' books are excellent, but not as detailed (From what I understand, this is intentional and is designed to get the builder to interpret the directions and come up with their own solutions.) I would encourage you to read at least two of these books, just to give you a better understanding of the process of SOF building. From there, you can mix and match techniques to suit your needs, skills and tools.
