The photo collage below shows the kayak I recently finished building. The blossom portion of the deck design is done with veneer. I used Madrone Burl that was purchased from Rockler Woodworking in Tustin Calif. It measured .025 thick. I epoxyed the blossoms to the deck and then covered with 4oz cloth and many fill coats. You need to pay particular attention to the edges of the design you will be using as it is very easy for air bubbles to get traped there, during the wetting out of the glass. There will be a slight bump at your design when everythig is done, as well.
