Dave, I just opened the box of my new Osprey triple last weekend. So far I'm happy with it, considering I have a whole 16 hours wrapped up in it. Check back to see how happy I am with it when I’m in the middle of sanding.

I got to check out both CLC and Pygmy the past two years at the Wooden Boat Fest in Port Townsend and at the giant sea-kayaking symposium there in P.T. It was a really close call deciding between both boats. Both are great companies: friendly people, well-designed products.

The issues for me: 1) Pygmy got my kit to me here in Anchorage from P.T. in about a day and a half via Alaska Airlines. 2) I chose the triple for more versatility. I see it as more versatile because you can still do big camping trips w/ a triple, yet at times you can still haul 'junior' or the occasional cat, beer keg, money bags, etc. I urge you to consider a triple. It’s the same dimensions as the double. 3) I wanted a multi-chine boat.

One advantage CLC may have is that they offer a sail kit for their large barge.
