I carved mine out of 3" thick by 20" square. I cut it to 17" to fit inside my butt plates, and I probably could have cut it down to 15" or less long. I have left over out front and in back after dishing out my seat with a 4" grinder and 7" sander.

When I got close I sat in it to test for feel.

The back is 1/8" doorskin, glass inside, CF on the outside, very comfortable.
