Seattle Fabrics and one other retailer were mentioned in the Vol. 19, No. 2 issue of Sea Kayaker Magazine, June 2002 article about DIY float bags and drybags.

Seattle Textile sells larger quantities at lower prices. Some closeouts and some seconds.

In case anyone else wants to make a huge purchase, I figured I'd put the information in this thread, especially if it gets searched from the archives a few years down the road:

Seattle Textile Inc

Snapdragon uses the same 200d fabric for the waist tubes on their neoprene/nylon sprayskirts, and many manufacturers use the stuff for paddlefloats.

There is a company called Mann Industries somewhere on the East Coast which may have the same fabrics at low cost.

I called ST in fall '02 and they only had some ugly colors (aqua, silver, pink) in an even lighter weight fabric, in stock, so it is worth noting that their selection changes, and it would be good to keep in contact with them to see what colors and weights they have in at that time. Late January, 2003, we ordered 350 yards of yellow and black at $3.25 for the yellow 2nds, and $3.50/yd for the black closeout fabric. At this time, Seattle Fabrics had the same fabric for $12.75/yd in 200d, and $16.75 for 400 denier.
