The WR18 is a CAVERNOUS boat. I mean, it's BIG. Your friend will swim in it. The CH17LT is the first of the "reasonable" volume boats in the CLC line, IMO. Unless you're planning to do some serious expedition paddling, anything larger is much more than you need. The extra windage of the bigger boats just gets pushed around more by the wind.

The WR18 is a very strong tracking boat, on par with commercial boats like the Nordkapp HM and Sirius. The CH17 is more maneuverable, but tends to weathercock badly. The CH17LT is better behaved in the wind.
