I've done it both ways. I prefer the 'total strip' method, I think. I just strip the entire boat, lightly gluing the shear joint. Then glass outside of hull and deck, masking the shear joint. Then use the old razor saw down the joint, and do the inside. The halves seem to go back together without much fuss. I had more trouble with movement on my first boat, when I used the traditional unglued shear/separate glassing.

Either way, it will work fine! Have fun! Mike
