Hi Lennie

Like Kent says, that 9oz. tape will show. It doesn't totally vanish when wet out. When I did the outside seams on my canoe, I used 6oz tape for the long length of the bottom ( flat ) and then where it curved I cut some 4oz and 6oz scraps, I acquired from a friend, on a bias and it conformed to the curve just fine. But, the 6oz cloth, where I used two layers, is slightly visible.

When I do it again, I will just make two or three layers of the 3.25oz cloth which is what I used on the entire boat. It's much easier to feather in also.
