Combi Folder , not too shabby is right!!

: For a low volume design, it performed very well. Fast, good tracking, quick
: turning, and stable. Not too shabby for a kayak that is actually the
: by-product of the Combi-Double. I'll skin the double this weekend and be back
: on the water next week.

looks simply excellent. who would know it's actually part of a greater assembly, too! you are to be congratulated for pulling it off so well.

could you tell us what the diff betw using hpde and polyethylene for the sections would be. if you decide not to use double sided tape to hold the pvc skin temporarily in place, what would you use. i forget from your prior posts, but do you glue the pvc or use heat, and is the sheer an overlapping or butt seam w/ overlapping pvc strip. i see you are using diff colours of pvc, what colours can you get, can it be painted? how much does the single weigh dry?

(in using the pvc, have you had any thoughts about making a combo blow up/frame yak as sealing is so straight forward? in previous posts on folders/skinners, i have wondered about making a pneumatic or skinyak by using panels from any of the s&g's out there as panel seamlines in a skinner with doubled seams that are hollow that the stringers just thread in. use either multi channel airbag(pvc) or the skin itself to blow up. stringers only(or mainly) in the cockpit area to keep it narrow. wonder if the stringers could get real small as supported full length and how minimal the sections could get. gearbags if any contribute to the structure if blown up also or instead inside the front/ back.)

anyway, thoughts.

could you show a few more pics? like the deck seam, the coaming/skin connection, etc etc.

very nice and i'm really looking forward to the double pics.
