I read a book about home shop dust control. The book said that what we need to be protected from is the real small particles (.3-5 Micron in size). The book suggested putting aftermarket .3-micron bags on whatever filtration system you use.
Right now I'm using a Sears sop vac that put me back about 120 bucks. Sure is noisy. Eventually I'll send the big money but for now, a 6 horse power shop vac is my main collector.

PS Check your library. They may hvbe the same or similar books on setting up a shop and controlling dust.
