: Can you tell me what MEK is? Is it part of a two-component glue as a solvent?

Eric,

MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) is a thinner, cleaner, solvent. It comes in a can
(one part). It is applied with a cloth, some people use a toothbrush, to the
skin contact areas to clean and prep the surfaces to be glued. A by-product of
it's use with PVC is moisture, so be sure that the surface is completely dry ,
use heat if necessary, before applying the thinned (Acetone) H-66 Vinyl
Cement. Don't forget to wear your respirator.

You former Polyester Resin users will recognize the similarity with
MEKP( Peroxide) that is the resin Catalyst. Wicked nasty smell as I recall !
