Rehd: We have had previous discussions here on gluing veneer, primarily using contact cement. Santa gave me a book on applying and repairing veneer and in it is reference to using glue sheets.
From the photos in the book these appear very similar to dry 8" X 10" mounting tissue used to glue photos to their backing. The process appears the same, lay the sheet on the mounting surface, tack down in a couple of spots using a hot iron, lay the veneer down onto the mounting tissue, iron into place, trim edges.
Since I have a box of photo mounting tissues, and this seems to be a cleaner and easier process than contact cement, this sounds like a procedure that I want to use.
Do you have any experience using this process? Any pitfalls or suggestions?
Thanks, grant
