: Does anyone have any experience with portable (or semi permanent) dust
: collection systems for a small house basement workshop? It would be used
: on one machine at a time. We're looking at a two dust bag system (2
: micron) with a 1 hp motor. We don't want to build in a major shop system
: but need to reduce the amount of dust we're producing on my boatbuilding
: and my spouse's metal working.
Liz,
I use a Delta 1.5 Hp with good results. It is a "semi permamnent" fixture as it can be wheeled around to where I need it. What ever you end up with, I would strongly recommend adding a "cyclone" type separator that fits over a trash can. I resisted spending $30 for this "piece of plastic" for a long time, but finally broke down and got one and am glad I did. It does two things: First it puts 90% of the dust and chips in the trash can where they are easily emptied and second, you can go about vacuuming the shop with out fear of throwing nails, screws, large pieces of wood or tools into the high speed fan on your expensive collector. It's a nice piece of mind.
