Strip: Accomodating twist at hull to deck joint *Pic*

I was looking at Michael Brokenshire's Night Heron where he's having a devil of a time figuring out how to get a good hull-deck joint at the cockpit. A possible solution came to me and I'd like to get some feedback from the group.

The current system of edge butting the strips at the joint forces you to try to make a smooth seam with strips that twist nearly 90 degrees in two stations - a difficult thing to do. Would it not be easier to extend the sheer strip above the sheer line by ~1/4" with the cove up, then butt the bead of the deck strips into the side of it? The deck would sit inside the hull. The attached photo shows how this method could accommodate virtually any angle and still produce and clean seam line. After the deck is stripped, the sheer strip would be planed down and rounded over, blending the curve of the bead into the sheer strip.

When joining the deck and hull, it might be necessary to hot glue some temporary supports inside the hull. An inside fillet will fill in the joint underneath, prior to taping.

Thoughts?
