I was just thinking along these lines this AM. Thanks for clarifying it in my mind.

: Then I start bending ribs. I use a rough tape measurement and make sure I'm

: gunnels. The next day I cut them to length allowing for the mortice depth
: and insert them in the mortices. It's so pathetically easy and fast. No
