Presently I am building two Cirrus One Ocean Kayaks. I have used Vaclav's scarfing jig with great sucess. It is set at a 6 to 1 ratio as explained at his site. We scarf both the 4mm and 3mm marine plywood. As for cutting out the panels I use a scroll saw blade I get at Sears. It has 20 teeth to the inch and the teeth are set like a regular saw. These cut both on the up stroke and down without any splinters. The cutting of the panel lines with a sharp knife will make the work much easier. Cut a saw kerf away from the line and use a plane to take this away. I finish the panels with a 60 grit fairing board to get the final shape. The cut lines will also give you a good reference when you reach the proper size. Do both panels at once so they are identical when making the kayak. Regards, Erich.
