Hi Sage,

I think the family will find that it is less expensive and easier to build SOF boats than any other type. Greg Stammer would be the first to point out (Unless Harvey or Nick beat him to it) that the Morris Measurements are not really linear. I think that length needs to be increased as well as width or the boat will sit too low in the water for an inexperienced paddler.

At the width that will likely be necessary, rolling the thing may be a difficult task, so erring toward stable instead of ease of rolling might be a good choice. (Wider than narrower)

And with novice paddlers, insisting on (internal) floatation bags is high priority. Just my $0.02
