I also installed a Guzzler 500 in a very similar way to how Kurt installed his. I had to make a bracket to bring the pump 2" out from the bulkhead. I made the bracket out of 1/16" aluminum sheet metal. The discharge on my boat comes out just above the shear line. One thing to consider for the discharge location is pumping out water while paddling into the wind. The center area of the deck might not be the best location. It might be kind of complicated to make the pump adjustable. Good luck.
