Well...that is interesting. I really don't worry too much about the weight of my boats. I just do what I gotta do and let it be what it's gotta be. Anything under 50 pounds is a bonus to me. I think a lot of people get caught up in this lighter is better syndrome...even to such an extent as to fudge a bit when determining how much the boat weighs. In almost all cases the motor (paddler) will be the heaviest part...and I'm pretty heavy...with the hull being a much smaller percentage of the whole. Might be good to consider a diet...but I like to eat.
