...you just hit on the best reason for building a light boat. I have a fishing kayak that is great when on the water...but is a bear to get ON the water. It probably weighs 70 or 80 pounds. At one local Corp of Engineer Park the old guy in charge requires me to put the kayak in at the boat ramp...along with all the other bass boats and water rockets. I call him old...he's about my age. Anyway...that kind of sucks. Once the boat's in the water I can then pull up on shore near a shelter...or anywhere on the shore. Go figure. I try to avoid that place.
