Gordon,
They come off quite easily. You just tap them with a small hammer or mallet and they pop right off. There is a bit of glue residue but it is easily removed with a scraper. These clamps really make the alighing of the hull and deck a breeze. They are well worth the small amount of time and effort it takes to make about forty or so of them and they will really save you alot ot time and frustration when it comes time to join the two halfs of the kayak together. You'll use alot less tape in the process as well.
