Hiya Lee,
I've found that by working on a 2' x 16' table (split piece of 3/4 plywood on three sawhorses), and stapling the panels in place on the plywood table, using enough staples to firmly hold the panels and keep them from trying to warp during cure, I get very consistant results, and strong joints. On the panels that are conveniently lying near the edge of the table, I use clamps instead of bricks. I put down mylar, then a piece of cheap felt cut to the same size as the mylar, then a piece of melmine over the joint, which is then clamped if possible, or weighted with bricks. I have used single layers of tape and double layers of tape, sucessfully, with nothing on the outside seam. If you do want to use tape on the outside seam, I find that saturation coating the exterior sides of the panels before begining the process works best.
