I find that it is easier to "thread" the wires through when the wires are cut at about a 45 degree angle.

After i've begun to tighten these, when there is about 3 coils around each wire(do you understand what I said?). I come back and snip off the ends at the coil. this still is sharp, but I've halved my number of sharp points, reduced their distance from the boat, and since I've cut them flat (perpendicular to the wire) they are not nearyl as sharp.

While perferating yourself is normal part of this process, I did manage to minimize this on my last boat. (I hope I did not upset posiden by doing this)
