I'm not aware that I use any special hot glue. I use the yellowish colored sticks of glue that are supposed to have better holding power, with a basic Sears hot glue gun. I'm guessing the longest period of time that I've had the blocks attached is probably 4-5 days, and I have not had any problems with discoloration. The only thing that I think could be a problem is causing a delamination of the glass if you get a little to heavy handed with the hammer/mallet when popping them off. I've used these clamps on two different boats and have not had this problem but it seems to me that the potential is there.
