There not traditional batwings, more like softwing sails with a batwing top. This keeps for needing a gaff tensioner. I'm going to be kicking the sail area up as well. I could run 20ft masts and still be conservative. This will require moving the leaboard back. I also have to watch the weight of the rig.
For the crossbeams I'm going to lauch it with something simple, straigh beams crossed at an angle for wave clearance. This way I can work out exactly how I want them to sit before forming gull shaped wings for it.
