For those that have not cut panels yet Vaclav suggests cutting and sanding a little large, you can always remove more material during the stitching stage.

Another pointer from Vaclav was:

"If you have not cut the panels yet, I recommend to err on oversizing the panel tips as insurance (the last 4" or so) about 1mm beyond the boundary line and 5mm in length which is then easy to shave down with a sanding block as you fit the panel. The plates must fit so as to leave a small "V" gap for the epoxy fillet which holds everything together."

I think I will go ahead as originally planned and start working on the veneer this weekend.
