This may be a worthless tip, but here it is: Get another boat. When I built my first boat I was very impatient to get it finished and in the water. I've seen many postings by people who couldn't wait and went paddling before they had a seat, before the hatches were done, etc.

Now that I'm building number two, I still feel impatience to get the project completed, but knowing that I can go paddling in a nice kayak anytime I want is soothing. (Of course, having said that, I also have to admit that the weather here on the central coast of California was incredibly beautiful last month, and I spent every weekend in the garage working on the new boat, and didn't get out on the water once!)
