: I know I've seen it before either on this board, or on the kayakforum.com,
: but can't seem to find it again: Is there a way to fill the wiring holes
: with some substance to hide the holes, after stitching? Does epoxy with
: wood flour make an adequate match with okuome, or does one need to
: "color match" by some method? (kayak will be varnished). I plan
: to "tab" the interior fillets, and pull the wires, and then
: fill. Thanks to all, Brian

Hi Brian,
The wire holes tend to get elongated when the wire is twisted. If you fill with a filler such as Durhams putty and match the color well, the holes will probably not show. I used tooth picks on my Coho and I like the look. The toothpicks fix the elongated holes and look like little plugs. Use the square type and break them in half. insert each half in a seperate hole and tap lightly with a small hammer. When all are installed, nip them flush with diagonal cutters and sand them lightly.
