I have a fishing kayak with 4 scotty rod holders on it (bought them from Cabela's). The base stays mounted on the boat, but the top part comes off easily for transporting. Trolling with 4 rods turned out to be way too many. I usually use the two mounted behind the seat just for holding two extra rods, or when still fishing for crappie or catfish. I now troll with only the two mounted near the front of the cockpit on each side of the fishfinder (I'm not going to mention the lights and batteries). When drift fishing or sitting still I may have all 4 rods sticking out...and an ultralight in my hands. Kind of looks like a crippled spider on the water. I have had several high dollar bass boats pull up just to check out the rig. Oh yeah....I catch a LOT of fish trolling. I think a kayak has an advantage over bass boats when trolling.
