I'm hard up for entertainment so I started version #2 of my homemade footpump design. You may remember that version #1 worked but the footpedal (teeter) broke and I had had enough at that point so I threw in the towel... promising to return another day.

Anyway, these are the valve and chamber components. These 2" PVC tubes will protrude through the forward bulkhead as shown in the blueprint http://www.chipsandresky.com/paddles/images/footpump3.jpg Footpedals (or a teeter) will move pistons in and out of the tubes and the check valves will channel the water in the appropriate direction. The value adds of this design are: access from the front hatch, continuous flow (one chamber expells as the other fills) and screw-in check valves.

The valves are DIG lawn irrigation equipment (backflow preventers). You can see an epoxy fillet around the male end of the valves. The fillet covers a row of holes that would allow backflow to spill out onto the ground; doesn't work for our application. I started work on the pistons tonight... we'll see how it goes
