too cheap to buy a gps (haven't really needed one. i can pretty well get lost with a compass and well marked trails as it is). i felt the magnets may throw off a compass if one were used, and although they are neat, and slick and clean, i felt function/security was more important. just opinion. the magnets may be sufficiently secure, but with the potential for gear inside to push open the hatch, well, i thought straps probably more secure.
