It's hard to compete with a $40 Guzzler pump rated at 8 or 10 gpm. I was thumbing through one of the Marine catalogs last night and there are all kinds of other pumps out there too including 12v submersible electrics. Some of those are around $100-$150. Then there are the problems or manufacturing, support and liability. I see the homemade pump as a great way for builders to make a superior product themselves without having to rely on some crappy corporation/factory to do everything for them. Now, the trick is finding even more ways to make the homemade versions better than the factory models.
