In impeller might be workable too. There are a lot of unknowns but the pump would be somewhat like a thin profile fan. The impeller would be integrated into the deck, fully enclosed above the foot area. A tube would extend from the center eye of the impeller down into the flooded cockpit. You would get the impeller spinning with some type of foot-drive mechanism. The water would be drawn up the tube and forced out of the boat by centrifugal action. Nutty idea but it could be fun to play around with.
