About the only thing I can say with any authority is that the strip, and stitch & glue, I've built have been strong enough, stiffer than heavier fiberglass boats of equal size , and much stiffer than any of the polyethylene SOTs I've been in. Some of the SOTs felt like I was riding a limp noodle in the waves. Not a good feeling. Also as others have said you can make any boat stronger or weaker or whatever depending on the design, layup, etc.
