: I'm using Detco Crystal varnish applied with a foam brush. My hull came out
: great. Not so the deck ... brush marks and a few runs on the 4th coat ...
: it just didn't seem to wanna flow out. I think I need to thin it a little.
: How much thinning is customary for a final coat?

: Thanks!

Hi, Ken-

I find that after a few weeks of opening and closing the can of varnish, some of the spirits seem to go away, leaving an increasing viscous varnish. I just add a splash of turpentine (real stuff) every so often to get it back to original viscosity. I have never added more than around 10%, though, so I cannot comment on thinner mixes. Good Luck! Mike
