You might consider something like a hybrid....stitch and glue hull with a strip built deck. The Explorer, at 16', and the Navigator, at 17'2", are pretty good examples of this type. Both are by Hans Freidel, but there are others. Hybrids should build pretty fast, yet be quite attractive. With your daughter being as tall as she is and still growing, she could probably handle a 16 footer with ease, yet still have room to grow. You can see both of those boats a Newfound Woodworks.
