Then perhaps you should consider making some barrels for your next batch of brew. Bead and cove some 1/2 inch oak and shape these barrel staves around a couple of circular forms. No glue needed. Use some rope to hold them in place until you can fit metal "rings" to the outside. Rout a groove at each end of your cylinder and fit in a circle of oak pieces cut from a panel of your oak strips. Tighten the bands around the outside, and fill with hot water to swell the wood and seal all the seams. Then go and mix up a batch.
