There's also asthetics to what we build. I like the look of a (not so perfectly straight) seam running down the center of a skin boat. It looks like the real thing.

Are you sure Cunningham is doing a 2 piece skin? He told me once that he uses 1 piece of cloth and wraps it around the hull and stitches it at the gunwale starting point where it's stapled. Maybe he changed or I'm wrong.
