Since Paul raised the question yesterday, I've been doing a lot of brain scratching before responding.

A one-handed (or no-handed) fill valve would be great for a paddlefloat. As you said, the spring ones are a bother to deflate quickly (and have springs that can corrode).

Push-pull valves sound like a super idea for paddlefloats.

I don't think they would be so hot in a float bag for the potential to come open. In entering and exiting my kayak with "standard" 320 valves, I still snag the tube from time to time. I fear that a push-pull valve would come open quite easily if snagged. In rough seas, where it's most likely they could be snagged, it's also more difficult to refill the suckers. Is this concern valid, or am I making too much about nothing?

There's gotta be a reason these are the "standard" for whitewater kayak and canoe float bags, and not just cost. If a push pull valve even costs twice or 3 times as much as a twist valve, they're not trying to save $0.25 on a $20 wholesale bag. I think they're more reliable, even if the reliability comes at a two-handed operation cost.
