: What woods are you using?

Hey Nick,

The hull is all WRC and the deck is white pine and walnut. I'm planning on using walnut for the outer stems and the cockpit recess. The coaming and the cockpit lip will be alternating walnut and white pine.

I'm already feeling that irresistable urge to paddle her so I've got to get her finished. And . . the weather is warming up nicely in Florida, which only re-enforces that feeling.

While I was building my wife's Guillemot single, I invited a pharmacist, who kayaks, (Tupperware) over to look at it. When I opened the garage door, his mouth dropped open and he stopped in his tracks. After a couple of minutes of silent staring, he said, "I love those curves." And I have to agree with him. He must have thought that since it was built out of wood, it would have square corners?? I think its those graceful, flowing curves that command the attention of everyone who sees the design.
