: Last weekend there was a lot of activities out on the ice on our lake Runn.
: There was iceskating, snowscooters, horses, bathing, flying and you name
: it. A couple of thousand people was out on the ice these fantastic days.
: Just to notice people that the iceage will soon cease and there is another
: fantastic way to use the water, I dragged out two of my strippers and
: showed them. At least a couple of houndred people stopped by and asked
: questions and admired the wooden kayaks. I think I´ve salved some of them
: from the glassfibres and tupperwares. I have names for at least three more
: kayakbuildingcircles.
: There must be something special about woodenboats, and especially wooden
: kayaks, wonder what that can be....
: The kayaks I dragged out was a Panache and a ShootingStar. I can pass on a
: lot of admiration to you, Rob Macks. These designs are outstanding! A lot
: of people didn´t understand how I dared to take these kayaks out from the
: livingroom. My answer to that is that it would be an utterly insult to the
: designer and builder not to use these extremely high performance kayaks in
: their right element.
Richard-What woods did you use on the Shooting Star? I really like the contrast, and am planning to do something similar on my North Star. Here in Baltimore we're waiting for the ice age to cease, too, having been hit with nearly 36 inches of snow since February 16th, as well as 3 inches of rain. That doesn't happen here too often; I'm considering putting my boat on the car, tossing a shovel into the back seat, and digging my way to open water tomorrow. Hope ice-out happens soon, for everyone.-Greg
